This is too cool not to men­tion: Kids with Cameras is a project started by the film­mak­ers behind the doc­u­men­tary Born Into Brothels. They gave cam­eras to a bunch of kids in Calcutta and turned them loose. The result­ing pic­tures are often very dynamic and always incred­i­bly honest.

I love look­ing at pho­tog­ra­phy by kids — they’re so ener­getic and gen­uine. They haven’t yet learned The Rules, so never have the intel­lec­tual strug­gles that we adults do in art — try­ing to bal­ance tech­ni­cal issues, com­po­si­tional issues, oh and being emo­tion­ally con­nected to the moment. They’re already there — they’re mas­ters. (or maybe mas­ters are just those adults who have become children).
