Steve Jobs gets it. Technology can­not pre­vent piracy, and such copy pro­tec­tion schemes do noth­ing more than annoy cus­tomers, sti­fle inno­va­tion, and increase costs for dig­i­tal media ven­dors. I’m very happy that Jobs has got it and is being pub­lic about it — as CEO of Apple, for­mer CEO of Pixar, and board mem­ber of Disney, he’s uniquely and pow­er­fully posi­tioned in both the tech­nol­ogy and media worlds, thus has the best chance of being heard.
